Poetry and Classical Myth:

The Influence of Greek and Roman Myth on English Poetry

Join classicist and poet Thomas Banks for a webinar on the influence of classical mythology on English poetry.

The influence of Greek and Roman mythology on English poetry has been immense. The imagery, recurring themes and narratives of the great works of the English language owe quite as much to the literary foundation of classical civilization as they do to the Bible itself. Thomas Banks, in his upcoming webinar, will introduce a number of great English poems inspired by ancient myths and comment on their literary and historical significance as well as their source material. William Shakespeare’s Venus and Adonis, John Keats’ Ode to a Grecian Urn, Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s Ulysses, and W.H. Auden’s Musee de Beaux Arts will be among the principal works discussed. The webinar will end with a question and answer session.

Price: $15 (this is for the streaming video of a previous webinar. To View the Video, after purchase, log in, click Orders, then View, then Click Here to View the Video, and you will be taken to the video player.)
