2026-2027 Anglo-Saxon: Further Readings
$625.00

In this year-long class, we will continue to explore the varied corpus of Anglo-Saxon literature. Texts will include Biblical narrative and poetry, history, homily, excerpts from the Exeter Book, and longer narrative poems. The class will also highlight the movement of the language from Old to Middle English and will conclude with some of the early alliterative poems of the Middle English period. Students will be provided with an in-house Anglo-Saxon reader to complete the course.
Pre-requisites: completion of Anglo-Saxon 1. This class is appropriate for anyone who has completed Anglo-Saxon 1 or the Anglo-Saxon: Beowulf class. The Readings classes will now be on a rotating basis. Beowulf will be offered, if the minimum is met, in Fall of 2027.
We will be offering Anglo-Saxon: Further Readings in the coming school year with a minimum of 10 students. If the class doesn’t have enough enrollment to move forward, we will provide a 100% refund to those who have signed up.
