CLASS DESCRIPTION
The Harry Potter series rivals both The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings as the most popular fantasy series of all time. Behind all the hype, film franchises, amusement parks, cos-play, and controversy are stories deeply steeped in the same Literary Tradition as Lewis and Tolkien. Rowling introduces modern audiences to an imaginative world built on fairy tales, myths, Bible stories, legends, fables, gothic fiction, English school stories, the Medieval Tradition, and more. In short, they are the Gateway to the Literary Tradition.
Join Angelina Stanford for a week-long mini-class exploring Harry Potter: Gateway to the Literary Tradition.
There are no assignments for this class other than the prescribed reading. It is recommended that students read the books before class. We will go quickly.
