2026 Fellowship Application

$50.00

THE FELLOWSHIP:

A Literary Mentorship

This Literary Fellowship is no system or dry, set curriculum; it is a living, breathing, dynamic relationship—just like the Literary Tradition it seeks to recover. So much of recovering the Literary Tradition is about being able to cross The Great Divide, as C.S. Lewis calls it, between the Modern and Pre-Modern worlds–a divide that is largely invisible to us and yet cuts us off from the very roots that we need to survive. Many who seek to recover that Tradition fail because they approach it with fundamentally modern eyes and do not know that they do. They blindly stumble around like the dwarves in The Last Battle convinced that they are seeing all that can be seen–even while the door to the other side lies within their grasp.

What is needed is new eyes to see, not a booklist.

Requirements and Cost:

Prerequisites: How to Read Literature class and How to Read Fairy Tales mini-class. If accepted, Fellows should also listen to the Pints with Jack episode on Lewisian Literary Theory featuring Angelina Stanford; the two episodes on The Building Blocks of Story on The New Mason Jar Podcast; the “What is the Literary Tradition” episode on The Literary Life Podcast. How to Read Beowulf mini-class is optional but highly recommended.

Requirements: This Literary Fellowship runs from September 2026 to July 2028. Angelina Stanford leads students deeper into literary theory, an understanding of the imagination, and a Pre-Modern Cosmology through interactive Zoom meetings where we discuss books and scholarly articles, lively personal conversations over Discord and Voxer, and two in-person retreats–one in July of 2027 and the graduation retreat July of 2028.

Cost:  $2250 with a $500 non-refundable deposit to secure your seat upon acceptance in the program. Travel and lodging costs associated with the retreats  are not included in the tuition and are an additional cost. We make every effort to keep things affordable, and can make payment plans available. The tuition balance will be due in August before classes begin. We can also break the payments up by semester. $1500 for Fall Semester due in August ($500 for the deposit and $1000 balance) and the balance due in January before class resumes.

Instructions: Full application instructions will be made available as a PDF file in your HHL customer dashboard after purchase of this product.
